porscheporscheporsche csp miata corkscrew at laguna seca Seattle International Raceway, Honda del Sol Si

in june of 1993 i bought a brand new honda del sol. it was the first model year it was available in the united states. it was a black, 5-Speed si model with the d16z6 sohc vtec engine. original power was rated by honda at 125hp.
it had 152,800 miles (240,000 km) accumulated on the odometer when i sold it in february 2002. i really loved driving it... after a few suspension modifications, it took on outstanding cornering capabilities. my car was a far cry from the del sol that consumer reports called, "...not a sports car."
i first autocrossed on march 10th, 1996 at boeing employees autosports club's "weather or not" event. in seattle, i competed in the western washington sports car council's improved c (ic) class. i also competed in the extremely competitive scca solo ii nw regional series in c street prepared (csp) class.

in july of 1999, i added a second car to the garage - a 1996 volkswagen gti vr6, purchased with less than 5000 miles on the odometer - retiring the del sol from primary street-driving duties. in 2000, i retired the del sol from racing, and drove a csp mazda rx-3.

currently, i'm racing a csp mazda miata in the california sports car club (cscc) regional championship series, scca solo2 national tours, prosolos, and national championship events. in addition i have been on the crew for scotty white's team naykid racing, where i've been responsible for on-event car setup and maintenance. the bottom line in my racing is that i have fun and that's pretty much a certainty.
